A suburban Detroit man was sentenced to 60 weekend days in jail Thursday for poisoning his wife's coffee.
Brian Kozlowski, of Macomb County, Michigan, routinely put sleeping pills in his wife's coffee throughout July 2018, prosecutors said.
Therese Kozlowski filed for divorce in May 2018. She was suspicious of Brian Kozlowski and put cameras in the kitchen of their home.
The cameras captured video of Brian Kozlowski putting diphenhydramine, an antihistamine mainly used to treat allergies or for insomnia, into her coffee on multiple occasions, according to authorities.

I tell ya, I don't know what these white, male judges are thinking when they let rapist and attempted murderers off with light sentences.

(9,074 posts)Prosecutors called the 60-day sentence "a slap in the face and said they are planning to appeal the decision.
"The Court seemed more focused on ensuring the defendants freedom & ability to work than the victim's safety," Smith tweeted. "It is troubling to think that someone who commits such a reckless crime, putting so many people at risk, walks away with just a slap on the wrist."

(54,415 posts)The jerk should have been forced to drink his own brew--under supervision--for 60 days in a row. If he survived that, THEN I'd listen to suggestions about sentencing.

(16,847 posts)I take the same drug nearly every night to help me sleep. They put it in Benadryl. It would take a lot more than 8 of them to cause a normal person to overdose. That's probably why he received such a light sentence, although I don't know if this idiot knew what he was doing. Maybe he thought he was killing her.

(14,811 posts)In Southern Illinois in the early 70's. This guy & his roommate (who was much older) went to a bar together & got into a drunken argument walking home that turned into a fistfight. The older guy fell & hit his head during the scuffle & later died. The younger guy got a plea deal on some lesser charge where he got several years probation (with no drinking allowed) & 2 years of weekends, where he checked himself into jail after work on Friday & got out early Monday morning. They said it was because he had a good job & they didn't want him to lose it.

A womans impassioned plea for a judge to jail her ex-husband who drugged her succeeded mildly as the judge jailed him for only 60 days, to be served on weekends.
Brian Kozlowski, 46, of Mount Clemens, was sentenced to five years probation with the first two months in the county jail Thursday by Visiting Judge Antonio Viviano in Macomb County Circuit Court.
Viviano previously indicated he would sentence Kozlowski to probation but issued a slightly tougher sentence after listening to a 20-minute description of the ordeal and its impact by the victim."

(63,221 posts)I mean, that would just be going overboard. Obviously he's a safe, stand-up guy who deserves to have as many firearms as the law allows.
If that is even needed. Fuck this!
