Convicted Florida child molester beaten by another inmate and drowned in jail toilet

A convicted child molester in a Florida jail died after allegedly being attacked by his cellmate and drowned in the jail cell's toilet, according to local news reports.

Paul Dixon, 43, has been arrested on suspicion of murdering David Oseas Ramirez following an incident around 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Duval County Jail in Jacksonville, Newsweek reported.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Dixon, who was serving time for a murder charge he received at 17, killed his cellmate at the pre-trial detention facility after a verbal confrontation became physical. A third cellmate who witnessed the attack has refused to speak with police.

After the beating, Dixon drowned Ramirez in the jail cell's toilet, First Coast News in Jacksonville reported. Ramirez's official cause of death has yet to be determined by a medical examiner.

We know the recidivism rate is very high for child molesters. How can that be? Obviously, most of them not only survive their sentences, but their prison experience isn't unpleasant enough to deter them from molesting more children.

charged for "lascivious molestation" etcetera of an 11-year-old in 2012. He was apparently already a registered sex offender.

This should never happen. No one should ever die like this. The state must keep these people safe.

why are guards never around while this is going on. As you said it is up to the state to keep them safe. Are these the private run prisons.

Or thinking it is a good thing.

Even the most horrible criminal has a LEGAL AND MORAL RIGHT to not have any crime committed against them while incarcerated. Thinking this is a good thing, "joking" about prison rape, etc. is appalling.

10. We might be tempted to say, "Bid deal, he was a child molester".

The trouble is that convicted child molesters and pedophiles are just like any other criminals
in that a percentage of them, however small, are innocent. How do we know if he is one of that number or not?
I read once of a man who spent many years in prison after being convicted of molesting his young son when he was eventually found to be innocent because his ex-wife lied.
Imagine the hell he lived through, being in prison when he knew he was innocent, suffering the kind of abuse that child molesters experience in prison, living in fear and terror, and most of all losing his son who grew up believing at best his father was dead or at worst he was a monster.

Our criminal justice system is too imperfect for the death penalty imposed by either the state or prison inmates.

I'll try to find some concern for this after I finish being concerned with a few hundred other issues.
