My wife is a chef, and is always looking to expand her arsenal of food. She really wanted to go. In the end, we couldn't make it work because of prior work commitments. But we almost did.
Just posting this to let everyone know, it can happen to anybody. It can happen to you. It can happen to somebody you love. It almost happened to me. It almost happened to my wife. It could be me lying dead or shot there, or it could have been her if things had gone down a little different.
NONE of us are safe until this gun madness ends. Vote the treasonous GOP out and let's get some god damn gun control!

(100,081 posts)Yes, *THAT* Route 91 festival. One of those people did not come back. That one hit way too close to home. When I say fuck guns and fuck the NRA I mean it.
Until Congress actually does something about guns and gun violence, we're all sitting ducks.
I'm at least glad that the NRA is such a dumpster fire of an organization that they might not recover from it.

(27,121 posts)While I was there, a mass shooting was the last thing on my mind, as it was filled with happy, friendly people.
Just as I imagine the Gilroy Garlic Festival was.....
I am growing to hate and fear my country.

(4,238 posts)We were supposed to attend Sunday as well, and I was really looking forward to it. But my husband is bothered by extreme heat and backed out at the last minute. I was upset at missing it, and then we heard this awful news. No where is safe.
