Trump, unlike the news media, knew the Mueller hearing was a disaster for him. He needed to stop the news media from showing the videos of the hearing because he knew over time showing those videos over and over again would get through the thick heads of the American people.

Trump does not care if the news media calls him a racist because he knows it does not affect his base. Trump plays the race card because he knows the news media will chase it like a cat chasing its tail and they will stop showing the videos of the hearing.

One day the historians will have to fix the epic failure of the news media. The Mueller hearing was one of the most important historic moments in our history. The news media failed to recognize this. The news media failed to warn the people that Trump must resign for his crimes. They failed to call on congress to remove Trump for his crimes and betrayal.

In that hearing Mueller told the nation Trump committed high crimes and he betrayed the country and the American people. Today the news media is calling Trump a racist and ignoring all his crimes and the fact that he is a traitor.

14. Trump is fighting on a number of fronts

Lawsuits, re-election with public opinion, fall out from the Mueller report—which is by no means over.

Trump bragged one time that he would suck all the oxygen out of the room. He is very good at it. Thinking he’s stupid, or has dementia is in my opinion a mistake. He simply does not care if he looks like or is, a fool or an asshole or a racist. He’s at his best when manipulating large amounts of people or very small groups. He understands media very well. Media in general understands him, but seem to have a hard time pinning him down.

The calls to ignore him on Social Media, take some of that air back, seem to be the wisest. The call to contact one’s representatives and senators seem wisest. Give attention to his adversaries, give attention to the people who are fighting. There are people fighting constantly, yet I will see OPs asking where they are.

The Mueller report & hearings won't affect his base either, regardless of how strong the evidence of obstruction.

You do have a point about the media's failure to accurately convey how damning the Mueller report & hearings are.

However, Trump's vile racist twitter attacks will not play well among the swing voters who aren't already firmly in the red or blue camps. It stokes his base (which will not change anyway) but disgusts many others.

The depth of Trump's crimes in the Mueller report and elsewhere will be spotlighted when the House holds impeachment hearings. Piled on top of his vile racism, the latter will work against Trump in the long run even if it diverted attention from the Mueller report in the short run.

If Trump resigns, Pence will give him a blanket pardon for all crimes he committed while in office, & Trump will never be charged & prosecuted for those crimes. He'd be totally off the hook for all of them, even ones we don't know about yet.

The investigation is moving forward. It is amazing, the House has not seen the full Mueller report yet. They have yet to get Trumps financial records and they need to get people to testify.

All of the above is now in the hands of the courts. We have to hope the courts expedite their decisions. Once those issues are resolved it will be game on.
