There would have to be incredible organizers to coordinate a million+ people marching on Washington. I'm in the midwest so getting there and finding an affordable place to stay would be tough. There are great organizers out there that need to get it done. I went to the Cobert/Stewart gathering but we had plenty of time to make arrangements. There isn't that kind of time now, and there were only 80,000 people at that event, there needs to be millions at this point.

going in waves... money, obligations, etc. keep many of us from continuous protesting but we can do it in waves and help each other get there

I am a caregiver so I can't go for a long period but I would find a way to do a few days a month

I was fortunate and was able to get to many protests in DC over the years because of my job (loved the Cobert/Stewart event) Now I can't do as much but want ACTION soon as I am sincerely worried for our Country

I am convinced that is the only thing that will finally outrage people to take to the streets....

At least I sure hope it would be the final straw....since not much else seems to be just too much....

and I told him everyone I know supports his action (which is true). I think that "thank you" calls are helpful too. I called my rep and for the zillionth time but she is a "no" until Pelosi says it is OK with her.

We would need a giant protest in every US city and it would need weeks of planning. I was one of the first in my area to reply to the original Woman's March and that was about 6 weeks before it took place. 40,000 showed up and it was the largest protest in my city's history. The last large, US protest "Impeach Trump" and was in mid-June and was put together in only a few days. That was NOT enough time for people to make plans to attend in large numbers (people have kids, jobs, travel, etc). Americans have priorities and politics isn't too high on their list...yet.

I have a short fuse, am stubborn as well as passionate so that can be a bad or a good thing, depending on how I apply it. I started to cry at the end of the message I left with my wimpy rep on Fri since I was so fed up and frustrated with her inaction and had to wrap up my call or I'd really go off.

I think that would send a more powerful message to them. If callers are showing sincere, timely concern more reps may lean towards impeachment faster.

A proposal with heart and soul:

PEACEFUL MARCH ON WASHINGTON
SATURDAY AUGUST 3rd, NOON

Agenda: Occupy our nation's capital until the traitor leaves. First meeting at Lincoln Memorial.

A few to begin is OK. Establish an ethic of informed, peaceful service to our country and the US Constitution. An exponential increase will gradually follow. Initial meetings could take place at the Lincoln Memorial and evolve from there.

Keep it positive. It's our country and the 1st Amendment was created for this.

Can’t make Aug 3rd but i’d be willing to donate to cover costs of organization and logistics. ——- Anything else I can do from here in Oregon, let me know.

We the people have to do something now. Coats’ forced resignation today makes this abundantly clear.

PS - your post should be an OP.

These really big ones take a lot of planning by the organizers and a lot of preparing by the attendees. They would be smart to start planning now for one in Sept. Oct would be better though.

to do something?

Want to March? Don't wait for someone else to do it. Plug in to organizations that are planning protests and marches. Organize something locally - either on your own or with local groups.

Large marches on Washington don't just happen. They take enormous planning, coordination, money and time. People remember the March on Washington, Vietnam protests, etc. and wonder why similar things aren't happening now. But the March on Washington literally took years to organize. Most civil rights protests weren't large and didn't happen I
Washington. They occurred in towns and cities all across the country, organized by local activists and residents. And most of the important and effective protests against the Vietnam War didn't happen in Washington. Those, too, took place in smaller communities around the country.

I was recently involved in a local protest and march. While the turnout was decent, it was still disappointing that more people didn't come. Lots of excuses from people who previously asked "why doesn't anyone do something?" Work, kids' soccer practice, tired, too hot, too late, too early, won't make a difference, etc. Everybody wants something done but too many of them want somebody else to do it.

I'm sure eventually there'll be a huge march on Washington. But in the meantime, there's no need to wait. Activism starts locally. If people want to protest, they should start there. Organize a march in your community. It may not seem like much, but that's where the real power is and, in the end, that's what's going to make the difference.
