Democrats should rely on the American people - not the Republican Party.

Especially not the Republican Party in Washington.

If it became necessary for them to impeach Mr Trump, there is little to none likelihood that the Republicans in the US Senate would hold him accountable.

Therefore, if Mr Trump defies an order from the Court, if he continues to block all subpoenas that go to present or former staff members, if he continues to show contempt for the Congress, Democrats would have little choice but to impeach him. But without any support from the Republicans in the Congress or the Senate.

In that circumstance, Democrats would have to make their case to the American people. They would need to inform the people why they are impeaching Donald Trump and why they are doing it without Republican support.

But the bottom-line facts are that it is the job of the Congress to hold the President accountable for wrongdoing, and for high crimes and misdemeanors. Democrats do not have the option of sweeping it under the rug and remaining a viable national Party, in my opinion.

This is not a game. It is not the Cowboys vs the Redskins. It is America vs Russia. Democrats have no choice but to protect America from enemies, both foreign and domestic. They took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution. It is not something they are itching to do. It is something they must do if the White House continues to obstruct the Congress. They do not have the option of waiting until the next election.

If it reaches the point where Democrats feel they must impeach, they must begin to educate the American people about why they are doing it? If they do their job well, the voters will hold the Republicans accountable in the next election.

In my opinion, that may be the only option left them.

They made the Mueller testimony out to be "entertainment" and the news anchors and pundits were acting like Siskel and Ebert..."Mueller needed some Red Bull, Mueller looked old and burned out", blah, blah, blah.

...they must be called out also. They should be held accountable for being accomplices to crimes against our country and our Constitution. The people have the power.

And education, as you noted, is key. Democrats cannot reply on the US corporate media to educate the public.
