Just emailed my Congressman.

I do this once in a while. Here's the text, if you're interested.

Hello Representative Himes, I just want to add my support for for a full-blown impeachment investigation by the House, and as soon as possible. I would think that perjury and obstruction of justice would be sufficient, but gross incompetence in protecting our election systems from hackers (such as Russia's GRU) would work for me too. Or violations of the Hatch Act. Or the Emoluments Clause.

I do understand that the House may or may not present Articles of Impeachment to be voted on by the House; that the House may not pass the Articles if they are voted on, and the Senate may not remove him from office even if he is impeached.

Doesn't matter, for these reasons:

1) It's your duty. The system determines guilt or innocence, so it is your duty to present the case to the system. This "why bother" attitude is corroding our entire system of government and drives me nuts. Rich Wall Street and Silicon Valley types walk all over everybody, and the Federal government makes pennies-on-the-dollar deals rather than kick ass. If we could replace everybody in jail for possession of less than an ounce of pot with one of those financial criminals, we'd have a much better and more financially secure country. I personally blame Gerald Ford; Nixon should have been jailed. Then maybe we could have nailed Reagan as well for giving the Islamic Republic of Iran arms behind Congress' back instead of looking away from that lawbreaking as well.

2) It's good politics. Show some damn spine already! There's a famous single-panel cartoon out there by Mr. Fish; it shows a human spine standing in a corner, and a bunch of suit-wearing donkeys (Democrats) are running screaming and crying away from it. One of them is saying "Dear God, what is it?" It's sad, because it's usually true! Show some stones! Put them on the defensive! Energize the base, de-motivate the opposition! State this in an absolutist manner and hammer it 24/7. Don't equivocate or temporize or waffle; make THEM explain defensively how it's peachy-keen

3) What else do you have to do with your time? The House is passing bills all over the place that McConnell is just sitting on over in the Senate. Passing another bill that dies in the Senate will not really help Dems come 2020 elections, but getting righteous over lawbreaking will. Kentucky as a state continues to suck, so putting McConnell in the NATION spotlight for a prolonged and uncomfortable time can only help in 2020.

4) People that abuse power need to be investigated, prosecuted, and imprisoned. I really don't subscribe to the "a scandal will hurt democracy so we have to bury or ignore it" mentality; when you do for anything bigger than minor traffic violations, you guarantee the scandals that are officially ignored will get bigger and bigger and more and more disastrous to democracy. That kind of mentality is why we have that... disgrace... in office. His skill set seems to be to set himself in his business arraignments so that going after him is perceived as not worth the publicity, bother, and expense.

Break him!

Just realized that should have been "NATIONAL" spotlight. Oh, well.

He's already for an impeachment inquiry, but I figure the more letters he can show his colleagues, the better.

its place, sign their own name and send it off tomorrow. I wouldn't change anything else!

I called my rep on Fri who is still not for it since she does whatever Pelosi tells her to do. I said what you wrote in a 2 min phone message which ended with me about to burst into tears (I am very angry and frustrated these days). I have called her local and DC offices, gone to a town hall, heard her speak at a protest but she is being stubborn on this issue.
