The back lot needed mowing so I dashed out, between hearings. Might not be the most precise job, but I do have my priorities.

(951 posts)My grandpa would "let" me mow his lawns using the riding mower. It was an adventure for me, so win win for both of us haha...
I remember it had a numbered throttle system, and also two general speed settings: turtle and rabbit haha
So I'm now picturing you sprinting to your mower and throwing it into "Rabbit 10" mode!!

(26,292 posts)Yea, my landlord was the notorious city council person, Jimmy Tayoun. He and his family were so lovely, to me. Actually the best land lord I've ever had.
I often regret not looking for a civil service job and staying in Philadelphia.

He was the first to (illegally ) expand his restaurant further onto the sidewalk as part of the entrance, way before other restaurants along Chestnut St. finally got permission to do so many years later as a way to liven up the Olde City restaurant scene!
He just passed away a couple years ago too - https://www.inquirer.com/philly/obituaries/jimmy-tayoun-philadelphia-councilman-restaurateur-character-publisher-20171101.html

(26,292 posts)As I remember Philadelphia.
One time Mrs. Tayoun saw me come home, obviously ill with a really bad cold. She brought me dinner and a glass of lovely wine, because she knew I probably wouldn't feel up to cooking for myself. That's the kind of people they were.
