Yes, I know: that is the assessment of an idealist, not a cold, flinty analysis of "the way things really work". And, I plead guilty to idealism. We seldom win a prize we have not reached for.
At this point, before the first question has been asked of Mueller, I still entertain the hope that he will choose the welfare of our nation over the political protection of the man who tried twice to fire him and shutter his investigation.
Endure. Resist. Prevail.

(9,781 posts)will stand up and defend his country once again. If I was him (glad Im not) it would be really difficult for me to contain myself. He is much more disciplined and professional to let that happen.
His insides must be twisted tight seeing and hearing that cretin condemn other Americans and cozy up to foreign dictators disrespecting all he and his fellow soldiers fought and died for.
