They continue to have systemic and sustained, century's long, advantage and still they're oppressed?

The hard right has a hard on at the moment. They cannot believe their luck. Pence, every woman’s theocratic nightmare as VP. A President who just does what they want on any issue cause power. Minority communities legal and human rights under real threat from the nasty that inhabits the most powerful office in the world.

They are now demanding from a society, where the majority is progressive on social values, to not only tolerate their intolerance, but to also accept their efforts to legislate this intolerance in a plethora of different ways. And if you don’t like it – you can always leave! They do this while warning of a future where their brand of republican Jesus will be a dirty little secret, hidden away from the intolerant liberal utopia of freedom and equality for all but them, and in the meantime they are systematically dismantling the freedoms hard fought for and won over the last 50 years. They have a persecution complex, even though they are the ones doing the persecuting.

So why all the angst from the intolerant right? What is so horrible about what was once the future that has them foaming at the mouth?

Simple...

Within a liberal construct we demand a fair playing field. How dare we. To the intolerant right this is a perceived and unwelcome oppression of their political and belief systems. Of course, that is a nonsense. They have had and continue to have, under this President, systemic and sustained, century’s long, advantage. As we continue to refuse to tolerate their intolerance, as we continue to expose and condemn what they do, their attacks will become more viscous and prolonged, the risks to freedom growing exponentially.

BUT

Steve Turner has it right
History Repeats Itself

No-one Listens

That means both the good and the bad. Life is circular and this too will pass. The levers of power WILL move left again, so, we must all work together to minimise the impact of the nasty in the meantime..
