'Back in the 60s that wasn't considered racist': Republican senator defends Trump's attacks on minor

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7270047/Back-60s-wasnt-considered-racist-Senator-defends-Trumps-attacks-congresswomen.html

Ron Johnson, a Republican senator from Wisconsin, defended on Sunday Donald Trump's attacks on a group of minority freshmen lawmakers as something that would have been accepted in the 1960s.

Johnson is making reference to a tweet Trump sent this week telling people if they don't like America they are free to leave and go somewhere else.

'I would say in general the whole, 'America: love it or leave it' is not a new sentiment,' Johnson, who was born in 1955, told CNN's Dana Bash Sunday morning. 'You know, back in the '60s that wasn't considered racist.'

Trump's attacks toward a group of four freshmen representatives, who call themselves 'the squad,' gained more heat on Sunday when he told the minority women they should 'go back' and fix their countries of origin.

so it was un-American and anticonstitutional in a different way. But it isn't the '60s anymore, and it sure as hell is racist when it's used against four women of color who, except for one, were born in the US -- because it was meant to suggest that because of their race alone, they don't belong here.

"Love it or leave it". That most definitely was considered highly offensive and racist in the 1960's and any time before or since. Let's also not forget that Trump and his old man were sued by the federal government for racial discrimination in their real estate business back in those days.

What’s a “commie hippie?” Is it commie to protest a vile illegal war? To want peace?

Yes it was racist in the 60's. Just because your Mom and Dad sat at the table and offered to charter a ship or buy a plane ticket back to Africa for the blacks doesn't mean it was acceptable then or now.

I heard that crap amongst my neighbors and relatives too and got myself dis-invited to a lot of things because I condemned it every time I heard it. I'll be damned if I'll sit there and say or do nothing while the kids listen to the adults spew that nonsense. I'd rather lose a whole family and keep my self respect.

YOU know that shit is racist. Just say it. You'll be able to look yourself in the face a lot better. If you have to, do it like Mitt, whisper into a glove... but do it.

an uber rich multimillionaire family. His father-in-law set him up in business and that sent him on his way. But it doesn’t change the facts about who Ron Johnson is. Another mediocre man with mediocre intellect whose wealth bought him a ticket to elected office.

It is really unbelievable that the people of Wisconsin voted for this empty suit over Russ Feingold. Twice.
