For example, he says that AOC called America "garbage". He took her quote out of context to make it something it was not. She was actually talking about policy, not our nation. He does it all the time.
He asks, "How many bites of the apple do they get", when talking about the Mueller testimony.
He says the Congress only got 95 votes for impeachment and that was the final word. He doesn't say that the vote was not on any charge except "unfitness" for office and his racist comments about the four Congresswomen. There was nothing about obstruction, abuse of power, collusion with the Russians, emoluments, or any other possible charges against him.
These are the types of little "trick" lies that he feeds his supporters. Just the illusion of credibility is all he needs.
It is a sick little trick.

Saudi Arabia etc) those who do not support free speech.

(32,057 posts)realize that he does this, feeds his base half-truths and embellishments and takes things out of context.
But his brainwashed sheeple believe everything that comes out of his pie hole as the Gospel truth. I even hear crap like this from relatives.... "But AOC called America "garbage"! Don't you think that is terrible?" It gets spread around and around their echo chamber. It's sick and it's wrong and it's disgraceful, but that is how he keeps them hooked. And if you tell them it's a lie or an embellishment or taken out of context, they tell you the Democrats do the exact same thing, which of course is not true, but how do you convince them it isn't?

(12,440 posts)Twisting arguments or actions into something they are not and then arguing with that false premise. It is done by false conflation: criticizing the administration is conflated with hating America; insufficient evidence to prove conspiracy is conflated with "no collusion"; OLC rules prevent indicting the president or declaring guilt when a subject is not going to be indicted has been conflated to no crime exists, "no obstruction". I think the whole point of having Mueller testify will be to knock down these strawmen but expect the minority committee members to create new ones, as they are well-practiced, almost as a reflex, in doing that.
