Y'all half-backs, why did you move from Florida?

In case this term is unfamiliar outside of a football context:

half-back
American Northerners (Yankees to Southerners) who move to the South, particularly Florida,..and end up moving only half way back home, as in Tennessee, Georgia, SC, etc.

(urban dictionary definition )

But, I have family in N. GA and many of the neighbors are half backs. I think the heat has a lot to do with it as well as longing for hills and mountains after being in very flat FL.

lol Moved from NY to South Florida for 10 years. Could not take the heat and humidity. Moved back all the way up North, but to Mountains of PA, not NY. Colder, Snowier Winters here than there. People in Florida questioned our sanity for moving to Northern Mountains.

Even we are getting this heat wave, but not quite as bad as NY which is a good 10 degrees hotter than we are. Monday's temps here will be back in the 70s and 50s at night. WONDERFUL Summer weather for me.

and moved north a bit to New Hampshire. With a high temp of 96 today the move is looking smarter all the time since temps that high are still very rare.

I live in the north Georgia mountains and am surrounded with them. Half-back is not a term of endearment here. I used to see t-shirts that said "I don't give a damn how they did it in Florida". A lot of them do seem to be pretty arrogant, but most are friendly. Quiet a few are snow-birds as well and return to their sunny Fla homes in the winter.
