...a bit surprised at the way he's able to do this with seeming impunity.

And, the cynicism.

We should all be bored with his behavior. Same song, different verse.

...of hate speech from the White House, on the road inciting others to emulate his incitements. Not with so many suffering at the business end of this president's verbal attacks.

Cynicism is also infectious.

With an abusive ex, my power to take action and be free of him came from detaching emotionally.

This is really no different.

...he makes these offensive and threatening remarks as the President of the United States, and that office speaks for the nation.

You can see the reaction from allies in sometimes fragile, and often embattled democracies around the world dealing with their own demonization of groups, races, ethnicities in their countries, along with with actual measures to expel them, injure them, much as Trump is doing with seeming impunity.

In isolation, this might be regarded as merely the ramblings and mischief of an old racist man, but the effects and consequences of supporting the worst, most dangerous, and most divisive figures, and looking for his own macabre notoriety at the expense of the groups and individuals he opportunistically degrades and encourages others to defame, needs to be directly confronted, not ignored.

...the degree to which we actually hold him accountable will determine how much this state-sanctioned, sponsored racism and bigotry will endure.

Just as silence is complicity, so is apathy and inaction.

And attacks others . How many times will people watch him claim he's one way, then he shows them he's lying and another before they understand, he always claims the opposite of the truth, then accuses others of what he is or is doing. He says he loves America, when he doesn't, and is destroying OUR Democracy.
