Well, you know, some people were shocked that the president could be so outwardly racist, Waters replied. So, you know, the fact of the matter is were trying to do everything that we can do to say that he really does not represent most of the people of this country in what he is doing and the way that he is attacking these women and the racism he is putting forward.
However, I, you, and others know that he has gotten worse. From the time that we first started to realize that he was identifying himself as an unworthy person, not worthy of the presidency, he has consistently gotten worse, she argued.
Because guess what? He basically came to the conclusion that we were not going to impeach him, she continued.
So he keeps going and hell get worse, Waters predicted. He is divisive and he is dangerous.

So far, seems like the only ones to actually go to jail are the ones who cooperated with Mueller. What a great fucking lesson republicon criminals are learning.

the Senate Republicans will not convict him, sadly. He has the AG in his pocket and many new judges, now, also. With no consequences, he will get continue on as he does... probably, the 2020 Election will be tampered with in ways we don't even know about, yet...

(1,977 posts)I am so tired of blaming democrats when it is republicans who refuse to clean up their own shit show. As of right now it all depends on republicans to actually give a fuck or two about the country. But please tell me again how democrats are at fault. FTS.

(4,341 posts)who should we blame?
The "Senate will not convict" excuse is no longer a good excuse. Find Laurence Tribe article where he explains the benefits of starting impeachment proceedings right now, and he also recommends that the finding not be sent to the Senate, he also talks about the danger of not impeaching at the house. "You just don't send it to the Senate, but all the proof of wrongdoing will be out in the open."
What Maxine Waters said she meant for Pelosi and other Democrats to hear it.
I m not sure what Pelosi's strategy is, but I have a bad feeling about it, I hope I am wrong, but the way I see it, we are going to get screwed in 2020.

(18,837 posts)I'm surprised he didn't add McConnell's "CASE CLOSED."
But he did end his remarks with "get back to work," directed at the Dems.
And the truth is that the Dems have been working all along, and anything that gets sent to McConnell doesn't come up for a vote in the Senate.
It's all about tax cuts and stacking the courts. Lip service to healthcare, lip service to "border security," but the Republicans only care about those issues to the point where Trump can stand beneath a "promises made, promises kept" banner at his MAGAt rallies.
It seems like all hopes are pinned on voting Trump out of office.
But we have no guarantees of voter turnout. Being angry and offended has limited value unless people vote. And 100% of his efforts right now are focused on MAGAt turnout.
There also seems to be an idea that Mueller's testimony will tip public favor toward impeachment. I have my doubts about that as well. Let's say that doesn't happen, or let's say that it does. It still comes down to starting the process, the investigations, with the knowledge that the Senate won't touch it. I don't see a "sea change" in the Senate no matter WHAT comes out.
So it all comes down to Trump's ability to slime the Democrats in they eyes of voters. We know he's going to do it, he's ALREADY doing it. We're depending on voters to separate truth from fiction. I have a hard time putting my full faith in that happening. But if I were to look into the crystal ball, everything I'm seeing tells me impeachment won't happen, and we are depending on voters to remove Trump.

(6,594 posts)...won't convict him.
As long as Republicans in the Senate refuse to convict him impeachment won't do anything to him, & he knows it, so he has no reason to stop what he's doing.

(22,582 posts)Well except in some Liberal fantasy.
The surest way to get rid of Trump is to defeat him in 2020.
But in the time between his defeat and when the Democrat takes office in 2021 I can only imagine the evil he will do, the trouble he will foment.
I think that if Trump were impeached, after the Senate failed to convict him he will be worse for sure, bragging how he was completely exonerated from all the fake charges.
If impeachment is like an indictment and the accused ultimately is found not guilty after a trial, how exactly does that make them held to account?

(4,192 posts)impeachment process run on through the election cycle and not even give the Senate a chance to vote before November 2020. If we can't count on them to do their jobs (and we can't, of course, with the idiot mind of McConnell in the way), why bother even giving them an opportunity to vote on impeachment?

(14,576 posts)McConnell and with a Republican majority.
It is about the oaths all these house members took - to, without equivocation, protect the Constitution and the country from all enemies, domestic and foreign. Trump has clearly committed numerous crimes and they are ethically, morally obligated, to begin the impeachment proceedings.
It is a matter of honor, of upholding a sacred oath, so in that sense, it matters not one whit that the Senate won't convict.

(3,321 posts)I would like to see the Democratic party market themselves as the party that believes in the rule of law, the party that will pursue accountability. Current Democratic leadership disagrees with this view point, it seems.
If the crimes of the current president do not rise to the level of impeachment, then no such level exists, and we should amend the constitution to remove all language referring to impeachment.
I, frankly, don't care what the senate may or may not do regarding a trial. The house is not required to refer their findings to the senate, nor should they. Show the American people what this miscreant has done to undermine our democracy. Show the American people they do not have to settle for a lawless and corrupt leadership. Show them we are a better choice.
How many voters will just stay home rather than vote for the party of milquetoast?
Catch2.2

(4,192 posts)Start the process, do the investigations, take your time to be thorough and communicate all findings with the public. It's an impeachment process but the most important part is educating the public about the crimes of tRump and all complicit republicans.
Again, it doesn't matter what the Senate does. McConnell can shove it. He's just a corrupted, contemptible prick. He deserves neither respect nor consideration. All he deserves is our suspicions and contempt.
