Yesterday President Trump incited chants of “send her back” about a U.S. Congresswoman at a rally and advised Americans who criticize the United States to “leave it.”
Today I had the honor of speaking at a naturalization ceremony, where we welcomed 52 new U.S. citizens. That’s because in Columbus, we tell a different story.
I told our newest citizens that they are welcome in our city and already add to its culture, economy, and future. In our best times as a nation, people have come here to seek freedom, opportunity, and protection from persecution. In turn, immigrants have bolstered our economy and stitched the fabric of American life.
We fight for everyone who seeks a home here in Columbus.
