So I guess this is what we have to look forward to:

The increasingly horrible, racist, misogynistic and untrue statements from tRump from now until the election.

And these are the reasons he will continue on this path, which will only get worse.

He will proceed this way to keep his base fired up, frothing at the mouth to defeat us, to keep them energized and loyal to him alone. He wants to make sure they will vote for him and all his shouting lies will help him do that. Of course, we know he doesn't care about the truth, or the law, or whatever is right and good.

It will be heavy going. We must stay united even before we have a candidate.

We outnumber them, but I don't think we can outshout them.

It's a gruesome situation and I think it will get worse.

I hope I'm wrong.

We must all make sure that every Democrat is registered and turns out to vote, no matter how difficult some states (such as Georgia, where I live) try to make it.

And you are certainly right about one thing: "We must stay united" no matter what!

The GOP spent decades perfecting their dog-whistling of racism, homophobia and misogyny.

Trump has blown that wide open, but he's leaving no comfort zone for those GOPer voters who didn't want to be outed

It’s inevitable. Let’s take a deep breath and meet his attacks with a honed disdain.

He’s giving us the reason why we must attack him with everything we have. He caught us off guard in 2016 but, unlike him, we learn from our mistakes and our actions. We aren’t the same anymore, and we know that he is exactly what he’s always been. Gird your loins girl!

who think voting doesn’t matter.

Once we all learn that it is we who can remove him from office, his racism will give more of us a reason to vote.

The most important thing for any of us to do next year is to work and vote to remove him from office.

No matter how awful he gets our mission does not change.

No matter how fired up he gets his base our mission does not change.

No matter who our nominee is our mission does not change.

Unfortunately, my dear Peggy, we won't be rid of him by election or impeachment. It won't be until he passes off into wherever piles of vomit go when their time on earth is finished. He'll be spewing his putrid filth until that day.

Then there will be dancing in the streets with glitter and rainbows and unicorns.

in fact, his base eats it up. GOP politicians know he's horrible but they're afraid of the base and don't want to lose their tax cuts. Apart from a few wishy-washy, craven comments like "Well, I wouldn't have said it that way..." (How would you have said it, Senator?), they meekly accept whatever he says. And, of course, there are the cheerleaders like Lindsey Graham - whose remaining tiny shreds of decency and honor were buried with John McCain - who throw gasoline on Trump's dumpster fire every chance they get. I am just waiting for him to use the actual racial slurs in public he is known to use in private at one of his Nuremberg rallies and the base will love it while the GOP will remain mute and cowed.

Exactly. And that IS a problem.

Does that make House Democrats "enablers," or worse, complicit?

If this is part of some electoral "strategy," it better damn well work...or we will have squandered the opportunity to save the fucking republic from destruction by this cadre of miscreant assholes!

These ppl are deeply damaged (and in my spiritual opinion infected with wetigo) people that are grasping at straws to make sense of this insane world. The most ugly and base thought processes are also the easiest. Black and white thinking is all they can process when they are in the normalized fear state that RW thinking creates. They are Terrified internally and is is exposed through fear based thinking ‘the other’ has been taught to them thru FAUX to be be the focal point of their existential fear. Their entire reality is based in FEAR

If u have a viewpoint different than theirs they will strike out in FEAR. These are not stable ppl emotionally- fear is debilitating, but our culture has ‘normalized’ it.

they need gentle doses of logic daily, hourly, as often as possible to hopefully be able to use their higher brain functions. FAUX news has been VERY successful at brainwashing those with fear based mentalities.

Slam me if u wish, but I feel some pity for these fear based souls - it sounds like a horrible way to go thru life - and plutocrats are using them - knowing full well what they are doing.

And we accuse the GOP of putting party ahead of country. That is ASSUMING our timidity will ensure a victory in 2020.
He will only get more emboldened every day we don't impeach. He's already now pretty sure we have cold feet. Gone are his initial worries with his "I'm fucked". If Trump then uses all these non-investigations against us in 2020 (because no one will show up) claiming we couldn't find anything on him, and it was obviously a witch hunt. With dire warnings to his base to get out the vote to protect him from the Democrats in his second term from more bogus witchhunts. And if we lose, Nancy will probably be forced out as Speaker. But she's a very wealthy woman and will retire into obscurity in comfort while the rest of us deal with the aftermath of another 4 #%$% years.
