Bad timing to bring up impeachment vote today?

Perhaps?

Maybe it would have been better to wait at least until Mueller had testified?

Still, they got 95 votes for impeachment. It has gone up since the last time they took a count.

Some event will need to happen for them to bring up the vote again, I would think?

Maybe the Republicans want the Democrats to impeach? Maybe they think that will get their base to the polls? Maybe they think that might be the only way to prevent a total wipe-out??

1. It concretely shows the American people - especially those who want impeachment now - that there aren't yet enough votes for it.

2. It lets the Democrats know which Members aren't there yet so they can focus on changing their minds instead of just shaking their fists at Nancy Pelosi.

3. It tells the general public that Democrats aren't bloodthirsty for impeachment - so when they do get there (and I think they will), people won't feel that it was forced on them but the course of action was arrived at logically, rationally and based on information emanating from the numerous investigations.

No, there is no way to impeach based on racist tweets. However, calling attention to them then underscoring that with impeachment sends a strong message. Green's move served to emphasize the seriousness of the earlier vote to condemn the remarks. I think that ending the day on that note was important.

they were based on the tweets, and would have sought to impeach him for being a racist.
i cant even imagine trying that.

wait till we have the evidence, and we have a few of these clowns in jail for ignoring subpoenas.

The House voted on Wednesday to table a resolution from Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, to impeach President Donald Trump over racist comments he

made about four Democratic congresswomen of color, effectively killing the measure.

5. No. First of all - today's impeachment vote had nothing to do with 2016.

It wasn't about Mueller's report, it wasn't about conspracy. It was about his racist insults.

I think it was a way to test the waters.

Whatever you do, don't listen to his comments aboit it, or MSM talk. Don't let them get in your head.

Justice is a tough, long slog. There's no action that can be taken now to stop him.

6. As disgusting as they were, making racist comments is not an impeachable offense.

I'm afraid that when a true impeachable offense is uncovered, and it will happen, Dems will be accused of crying wolf.

Before filing something like articles of impeachment. This should have been a huge deal, with 'breaking news' bulletins, and front page articles with headlines in huge fonts. But, it needed a clear-cut, impeachable offense and days of orchestrated persuasion conveying grave seriousness and building to the moment when everyone was on the edge of their seats to see the impeachment process start.

Instead, we get an admittedly goofy back-bencher going rogue in attempting to do something quite historic, serious, and rare in the middle of summer when no one was expecting it nor paying attention.

Impeachment is serious business, and Green's stunt didnt treat it as such.
