When does that demographic advantage I keep hearing about finally kick in?

Because I'm ready. Anytime now would be great.

I mean, even in 4 years, there are 4 years of new young voters, the least racist age group, replacing 4 years of older voters who pass away (may they rest in peace). That should make a difference, right?

Also, the fraction of non-white voters gets larger every year.

At some point, the dam has to break, right?

What gives? Do people get more racist with age?

I've been reading about these unstoppable demographic shifts for 20 years now. I'm ready. Please hurry.

can win, with the presidency an outstanding example, isn't exactly the sort of demographic progression we were expecting. Russia coming in to help them hold power wasn't on any projection I read.

And instead of the white man's party being forced to embrace non-white conservatives by becoming less racist and misogynistic, as expected, we now realize they decided to put an end to their problems of representative government by replacing it with a fascistic autocracy.

Surely, though, these are all just little bumps in the road to progress? Thank goodness for the messages of the midterms and Trump's continued assistance. Without those encouragements, I might have to go talk to my doctor about something to help get me through this.

Voted their numbers.

As of yet, neither group does... potential reasons vary.

One is that the younger generation can't always be relied upon to vote for the more liberal candidate.

In 1984 the youngest voters 18-24 year olds went decisively for Reagan 61 percent to 39 percent and the second youngest, 25 to 29 year olds also were decisively for Reagan 43 percent to 57 percent.

https://ropercenter.cornell.edu/how-groups-voted-1984

another is that there is an indication that support for lgbtq rights most recently seems to have been dropping among the youngest age groups

https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/young-people-increasingly-detached-supporters-lgbtq-rights-survey-says-n1021031

This seems to be happening even as other olds age groups have been increasingly supportive of lgbtq people -up to the present there has been increased support for lgbtq persons across all age groups-which means that many older peopled actually changed their views to be more accepting and supportive.

Communications are necessary to keep the coalition of extremists (GOP) voting and to suppress the vote of some of the majority. This is part of the reason for de-regulation over the decades -- consolidation of media outlets into the hands of well-fed donors.

We acted too late. In the Senate, Republicans are just overrepresented. Every state gets 2 Senators no matter what, and this is an area where state demographics favor Republicans, just because of where people are moving to.

Basically, the demographics give us the majority in every single national vote for House, Senate, and Presidency, but we're not a Democracy.

Every four years there are articles "Is this the year Texas turns Blue?" The fact is that younger people's opinions change as they grow older. No, not all. But many if not most. We saw a radical generation in the 60s turn into Reagan voters in the 80s. So I will believe it when I see it.
