The mayor of the town Trump's grandfather immigrated from just made Trump a great offer
With all of President Trump’s animosity towards immigrants, he has conveniently ignored the fact that he himself is both the son and grandson of immigrants.
His mother Mary was born in Scotland before immigrating to the United States in 1930, while his grandfather Friedrich Trump came to this country at the age of 16 in 1885 from Kallstadt, Germany.
Now the current mayor of his ancestral city has responded to Trump’s vehemently anti-immigrant sentiment with a suggestion that he believes could help temper the president’s bellicose nativist rhetoric.
Hearing about Trump’s racist call for four progressive Democratic congresswomen to “go back” to the “crime-infested places from which they came,” Thomas Jaworek, the conservative mayor of Kallstadt thinks that the president could benefit from a visit to the home of his own patrimonial lineage.
“Seeing the not-so-imposing homes of his ancestors might bring him back to earth,” Mayor Jaworek told The Washington Post in an interview.
“Jaworek said many of his constituents align with the rest of Germany’s views that President Trump is a threat. While he has little interest in hosting the U.S. president — citing the security and media frenzy it would cause — the mayor said that if Trump were to visit, he hoped the president would at least leave Kallstadt with a changed view on migration, citizenship and belonging,” the newspaper writes.
