Mitt Romney's Misleading Attack Ads
Once again, Mitt Romney is deliberately editing President Obama's words to launch another false attack on the President's support for small business. Independent fact checkers at the Washington Post and Factcheck.org called out Romney for his calculated distortion. Not only does Mitt Romney get the Presidents remarks wrong, he actually thinks that what the President said is right. Take a look at what President Obama actually said and decide for yourself.

The Republican National Convention opened by smacking President Obama with the theme We Built it.
To pound that message, Republicans turned to a Delaware businesswoman, Sher Valenzuela, who is also a candidate for lieutenant governor. Valenzuela and her husband built an upholstery business that now employs dozens of workers.
Valenzuela presumably was picked to speak so that she could thunder at Obama for disdaining capitalism.
Oops. It turns out that Valenzuela relied not only on her entrepreneurial skills but also on yes, government help. Media Matters for America, a liberal watchdog group, documented $2 million in loans from the Small Business Administration for Valenzuelas company, plus $15 million in government contracts (mostly noncompetitive ones).
------
Who built this country? Entrepreneurs, yes. But so did schoolteachers and railway construction workers. Doctors and truckers. Scientists and soldiers. You didnt build it, Mitt Romney we all built it.

(285 posts)6. This one would make a great television ad!

(17,199 posts)7. An ad would be nice (we're being so outspent by the Republicans)
But President Obama or Vice-President Biden should just come out and say these things at the convention next week when they'll have the biggest audience of the entire campaign.

We built it together

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie gave a speech last night at the Republican National Convention about the Greatest Generation.
Let's talk about what really made the Greatest Generation so great.
Coming out of the Great Depression, America was at a crossroads. The future of our economy - and our democracy - was at stake.
We made a decision together as a country: To invest in ourselves, in our kids, and in our future. For nearly half a century, that's just what we did.
And it worked. For nearly 50 years, as our country got richer, our families got richer - and as our families got richer, our country got richer.
And then about 30 years ago, our country moved in a different direction. New leadership attacked wages. They attacked pensions. They attacked health care. They attacked unions. And now we find ourselves in a very different world from the one our parents and grandparents built. We are now in a world in which the rich skim more off the top in taxes and special deals, and they leave less and less for our schools, for roads and bridges, for medical and scientific research - less to build a future.
