I am watching the celebration for the US women's soccer team, and Carlos Cordiero, the president of US Soccer, was just speaking about Megan RAP-i-noe. RAP-i-noe???????????????
Either everyone else is pronouncing it wrong and Megan is just too gracious to correct them, or the damn head of US soccer doesn't know how to say her name.

Buttigieg has the same situation as his husband said one way and Pete said another.

(24,054 posts)...letters of the 4 syllable name are 'pign', which is properly pronounced "pinya" like in lasagna or cognac. Most people look at it and pronounce it "pig." I just go ahead and gently offer the proper pronunciation because it sounds so much better that way.
I find people usually appreciate the clarification.
