Now they are going after his work and him personally.
Truth has no value any more. It is just who can outplay who. No morality. Just greed and the high from playing the game.
I think Mueller can take care of himself. He has had high pressure jobs in law and law enforcement all his life.

(13,110 posts)He has allowed this charade to continue !!!
He won't defend this country against the illegalities of the Trump party and the republican party.
He won't stand up to Barr.
If he clams up on the 17th he deserves everything coming his way.

(7,800 posts)One of the bigger disappointments in history is this guy - on many levels. ANY other prosecutor would have been chomping at the bit to correct Barr's criminal mischaracterization - and try to enlighten the American public, thereby saving our democracy. But not button-lipped Bob! He's more concerned with preserving his reputation of not getting political.

He has a chance to repent next week. Not counting on him, though.

(1,124 posts)Robert Mueller is a registered Republican. President George W. Bush nominated Mueller for the position of FBI director on July 5, 2001.

(16,129 posts)he needs to talk.
I fear (expect) that the only answer he'll give is "it is in my report"....which they can't see a large portion of because it is redacted.

(9,875 posts)I think everyone is going to be very disappointed when he says, "I answered this question in my report, page..." and refuses to add anything beyond what is written in the report.

(8,144 posts)many times over. Intelligence must answer as to what happened to any evidence 36 embedded
FBI agents found.
Muellers investigation appears to have followed some money trails, but findings not a part of the report.
Saving the country, fighting Trump and Republicans, was not Muellers assignment.
The House is well prepared to investigate financial crimes (doing so now) and where Trumps
money and oligarch and Russian mob money mixes FBI must enter the frame. Undoubtedly they have been on this as they have been fighting Russian organized crime for some timethough Trump got rid
of key fighters.
That Muellers testimony about the report will likely give it credible legs seems to be of little import
to those who want Mueller to be some crusader or Deep Throat.
Vouching for his work, standing up to Republicans who would discredit it, simply by being honest and
factual puts a lie to the witch hunt claim, and will verify instances of obstruction and collusion, regardless of Mueller not charging the one, and not considering the second.
The public will hear about both whether Mueller reads the pages or the questioner does. And yes, he will be asked about his letter to Barr.
Listen, this is OUR democracy and WE have to fight for it. All Mueller needs to do is to account for the reports findings. We, the public, wont be filled in on other investigations or grand jury proceedings unless through leaks.

(32,902 posts)There are multiple layers of crimes he dances around in his report. He will need to talk to congress in a very clear and forthright manner.

(18,874 posts)Mueller did the job he was hired to do. He was not the one who claimed to be the country's savior. People just laid that trip on him.
My guess is that he will simply follow the letter if the law. Wherever that must go.
But I do think he will be able to handle these yahoos that are now trying to destroy him and his report. But he is a facts, just the facts kind of guy.

(90,829 posts)He did his job, and now they have to do theirs. The fact that he is speaking in open session is bonus -- I do hope the heads of the committees will coordinate things so the GOP doesn't go into abusive grandstanding, and so Dems stay on message.
