(4,268 posts)is what I'm thinking. The media is what it is. By now it should be obvious that you need to play the game to win it. Or as good as the shameless traitors are, to catch up.
By now I'm flabbergasted and frustrated x 1 trillion as to how bad the Dems (politicians, leadership, megadonors) are at this. I will never understand it.

(56,828 posts)if the media ignores most of what Democrats do and say? Unless there is a big Democratic scandal, the news is all Trump all the time.

(4,268 posts)put out talking points so that all (ok, pushing it here) or most Dems are on point. Repeat the same catchy phrases or words to frame issues over and over.
A few examples: Chain migration? Anchor babies? I'm sure you've heard those many times before. Created by the far right anti-immigration organizations like FAIR, CIS, NumbersUSA. Even the Dems use the terms now.
This is not rocket science. All you have to do is study what the russiapublicans do. Copy a few things. Get creative (hire top marketing and advertising companies). Etc etc etc.

(56,828 posts)if you don't get coverage - it's been the way of the media since the 1980s - Democrats don't get airtime in comparison to Republicans, and when Democrats do get airtime, it's normally opposite a Republican.
And, if all the Democrats are repeating the same talking points, will it matter if nobody hears what is said?

(4,268 posts)"it doesn't work" when it works for russiapublicans and the Dems have never tried it?
I totally disagree. When I see Dems being interviewed all the time, they are rarely on the same page. It's counterproductive. I don't know how long it'll take, but you have to start somewhere.

(56,828 posts)They don't have the platform to mass market a coordinated message. The Republicans have a massive network to drive right wing propaganda - Fox News, One America and the Sinclair syndicated stations on TV, right wing talk radio over the air, and most local and state newspapers are owned by right-wingers as well.
Democrats have several hours at night on MSNBC, The Daily Show on Comedy Central, John Oliver on HBO and that's about it.
The "mainstream" media is too obsessed with being balanced and end up bending over backwards to accommodate Republicans because they're afraid of being called biased against Republicans.

(4,268 posts)Social media is accessible to anyone.
It's the 21st century. It's marketing and advertising. If the Dems can't make that work, they're hiring the wrong people.
And to follow your logic - "Dems have several hours at night".....you'd think they'd use them more wisely then? They don't.
Have a good one.

(12,265 posts)They have no idea what is really going on. That is 40 percent of the country so I'm not surprised. Fox never covered it, and covered Joe's stuff for weeks.
