I just finished watching it. Its very good. Its told in a very different way than most movies are, and this adds a very interesting perspective. Those of us who are a bit older and who have been political wonks for decades will recognize every detail in this movie. Youll get reminders of things you havent thought about in years.
I recommend it highly to everyone, no matter how old, because it shows a lot about the things were still having to deal with. Its not a typical political movie done in the usual way. It will hold your interest throughout.
The only thing that came as a surprise was the relationship between Lynn and Dick Cheney. I didnt imagine it was that way, perhaps because I always despised both of them and only knew Lynn Cheney as the ultra conservative pundit on Crossfire in the 1990s. She was a very mean woman.

Corrected the venue. It is Hulu, not Netflix where it is showing.

(53,410 posts)Especially Christian Bale. I got totally caught up in the Dick Cheney character and only once or twice caught glimpses of Christian Bale under the makeup and Cheney mannerisms and then only momentarily. I still have the feeling that I was watching the real Dick Cheney.

(5,935 posts)The following is a true story.
Or as true as it can be given that Dick Cheney is known as one of the most secretive leaders in history.
But we did our fucking best.

(3,784 posts).............but I just couldn't stand it. It was like living through those gut-wrenching Bush years all over again. It showed essentially how we got to where we are today (i.e. the sections with Roger Ailes trying to start a RW news network, and Reagan scrapping the fairness doctrine, and how Cheney took a shit on our entire country in order to enrich his buddies, etc.)
I can appreciate the movie for the fact that it's trying to be a hit piece on Cheney, et al., but it just brought up too many painful memories for me. I remember the pit in my stomach I had after Bush won re-election in 2004, and I don't ever want to remember how that felt, nor do I want to feel it again next year.

(53,410 posts)It was more than 2 hours long. Mostly as things were revealed in it I remember how we, in DU, were so right in all our speculations about what they were doing. They sure as hell didnt fool everyone!
