Leaked memo: Officials were aware of rogue Border Patrol group as early as Feb. 2018

Yet they apparently did nothing.

https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/451794-internal-memo-shows-officials-were-aware-of-border-patrol-agent?amp=1&_recirculation=1
..."In a February 2018 internal CBP memo obtained by The Hill, Matthew Klein, CBP's assistant commissioner of the Office of Professional Responsibility, wrote that the agency "was made aware of a private Facebook group page that only a specific group of CBP employees could access, on which inappropriate and offensive posts were made."

"The bottom line is the Agency may bring discipline against an employee who posts offensive messages on a social media page where there is nexus to the Agency workplace," he added.

It is unclear if the memo referred to a Facebook group uncovered by ProPublica earlier this week that included derogatory posts targeting migrants and lawmakers, or a second page uncovered by CNN Friday that contains vulgar and sexually explicit posts.
.....
current Department of Homeland Security official also told Politico on Thursday that the agency's leadership was aware of derogatory photos posted in one group as far back as 2016.

The news comes as the agency faces an avalanche of criticism over the pages, with many Democrats saying it allowed a toxic culture to fester among its agents. ".....(more)

As our grate commander in chief said in front of that statue guy: "Whatever the "snowflakes" say, boys, screw 'em. We Americans of this U. S. of A. know that girls need to keep aspirin between their knees and "lock that thing down" if they get legitimately raped. Everybody knows that except the snowflakes. And the browns and blacks -- some are good people, but mostly they just cause trouble especially the women, especially the women who think their smarter than we the people, lots of communist-trouble 'cause all they want is free stuff. Shoot, everbuddy knows that. 'Sides, who invited your snowflake eyes in where they got no business being? The women, specially the browns and blacks, they do sex all the time so a picture a little edited ain't a lie 'cause its the real truth of them, right? And if the snowflakes don't like it its on account of they lie all the time and like George Washintown said 'they can't handle the truth.'

Another thing, dammit. On Facebook, Private Group says PRIVATE, meaning' only he-men no girls allowed. Go make your own group up and do whatever you want to -- because you can, because this is America, and that's what it's all about, know what I'm sayin'?"

That goes to the hiring practices. Rather than identifying and excluding applicants showing a neo-Nazi world view they actually have that trait as preferred in the profile for a hiring decision. And it goes across government agencies with law enforcement responsibility. It led directly to the formation of the Black Lives Matter movement. And it is not just Border Patrol and Police divisions with this issue. It even involves agencies like Child Protective Services. These are all departments where there is a need - just not for the profile of people that are getting hired to fill those positions and these actions just expose the internal problems in these areas. So, in this political environment, how do you fix it? It is not new. It has just gotten steadily worse. The solution not only needs the bad actors to be removed but also administrative changes that rather than to seek out these individuals, turns them away. Good luck with that.

it's hard to fire a federal worker and requires quite a bit of diligence on the part of HR, etc. to actually terminate employment. If the higher ups aren't into doing anything, it ain't gonna happen without a massive public outcry after which the perps claim discrimination by fiat of publicity.
