PHOTOS: Here Are Trump's 4th Of July Tanks

President Trump’s big 4th of July spectacle will come complete with several M1 Abrams tanks and other armored vehicles, despite opposition to the military equipment sideshow from the local Washington, D.C. City Council.

The tanks are currently on a train outside of southeast D.C., according to local reports.

Here are some pictures of the vehicles.

Looks like they’re getting a good cleaning before the big debut.

During the Four Powers Occupation of Berlin, they had a series of military parades every year. (There are a few roads in Berlin specially designed to handle the weight of tanks, just because of these parades.) The rule at these parades was that all the vehicles had to be shiny...so, starting two weeks before the parade season kickoff the tankers and mech infantry guys would spend all day rubbing baby oil into the paint. It’s the only thing they found that could be removed to return the tanks to flat green color after the season ended.

I’m a little surprised Trump didn’t demand that.

Several people have pointed out that this Soviet-style spectacle will risk doing lasting damage to the National Mall, which was recently refurbished by the National Park Service at the cost of millions of dollars, and at least a year's worth of work.
