Thirty years ago, one brave man with a shopping bag blocked a column of tanks that were advancing on Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China. See link.

Trump wants his tanks out there on July 4th. If you live in or near D.C., get a shopping bag and go stand in front of one of his tanks. This is still America. And Trump has no right to speak from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial with U.S. tanks nearby to demonstrate his "greatness."

Fuck him. Get a shopping bag. Get out there.

The Host of our Airbnb in the Surrey Hills neighborhood in Sydney, a 35 year old immigrant from China, and I had an interesting talk about world politics. I mentioned Tiananmen Square. He choked up with emotion. One of his brothers was killed by a tank that mowed him over there because he wanted FREEDOM. I gave him a hug of support and was sorrowful for his loss.


"The world is not so divided as some World Leaders want to think," I said to him. We are all brothers and sisters, related in our quest for knowledge and freedom of thought." He was in tears that an American understood. He said that he would remember me as I gave him my business card with my email address in case he wanted to keep in touch.

True story. Australia has many immigrants from China, Indoneasia, Vietnam, Thailand, Pakistan, India, Turkey, and elsewhere.

5. You don't need the shopping bags.

I'd love it if throngs of protesters can block the tanks from being delivered in the first place. That's fantastic. My hopes are pretty low on that one though.

But I think we would need thousands of people to accomplish it, otherwise, the few will just be arrested.
