WASHINGTON/NEW YORK, June 27 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump on Thursday proposed an extraordinary delay to the 2020 census after the U.S. Supreme Court blocked his effort to add a citizenship question, but legal experts said such a move would violate the Constitution.
The U.S. Constitution directs the census take place every 10 years, and a delay via executive action would be unprecedented, experts said.
Terri Ann Lowenthal, a former staff director of the House of Representatives subcommittee overseeing the census, said a delay would run afoul of the constitutional requirement for an enumeration every 10 years and the statutory requirement to
report the state population totals by the end of the census year. Essentially, we would be facing a constitutional crisis, Lowenthal said.
On Twitter after his setback before the Supreme Court, Trump said, "I have asked the lawyers if they can delay the Census, no matter how long, until the United States Supreme Court is given additional information from which it can make a final and decisive decision on this very critical matter."

That's how this works now. Trump does what he wants to and no one stops it.

Congresspersons will say "how did that happen"? But they'll be fine because most of them are wealthy enough to leave the country.
