Why not blame Schumer and Senate Democrats for not fighting against the McConnell/Trump bill that was drawn up with no Democratic input. I believe the Senate Bill passed with only 8 no votes.

In this case, where children are involved, it was probably best to acquiesce.

How do you remove corrupt people from power when they have all the power?

There's no win here unless there's trust.

The fact that a bunch of lawyers had to tell America that these conditions were disgusting is enough to know there's no trust at all.

This is disgusting

They use the compassion of the democrats to force them to submit (like what pelosi just did) That's it for the gop's principles besides constantly taking apart democracy every chance they get. If a political party doesn't believe in government they should not have the right to partake in government. They're playing us. All it takes to lose our democracy is for one party to just refuse to participate. like here in Oregon.

McConnell knows he can cause people suffering and Dems will cave to whatever he wants to stop it. This bill isn't going to change the fate of the kids in camps. They'll just use the money to inflict more pain.

I thought the point was that there was oversight in the bill.

In the Senate version that is very likely none.

So, is this all just an exercise in futility? Political theater?

I don't.

Mitch McConnell and the orange thing have their hands in it, which indicates that it is simply a payoff to the rich folks who own the contracts. But, hey, that's how it works these days.
