The Republicans have many "haters" in their party. They won't compromise with Democrats in the House and Senate. The Democratic contender was an incumbent named Jon Corzine who was the former head of Goldman Sachs. He failed to halt property taxes which are very bad in this state, which IMO was why he was not reelected.

Furthermore, he has a severe lack of charisma.

Corzine, as you may know, went back to the world of finance and headed up a a company called MF Global. This organization blew up in Feb of this year, I think it was.
