Madonna's bloody 'God Control' music video draws mixed reactions

Madonna has a career-long history of being a pop culture provocateur, and her new music video for "God Control," which depicts a graphic mass shooting in a nightclub, is just another example of that trend.

" target="_blank">The eight minute long video for Madonna's new track "God Control," released Wednesday, opens with a violent, bloody sequence of partiers dying after a shooting in a club.

Patience Carter, who survived the Pulse Nightclub mass shooting in Orlando on June 12, 2016, spoke out in protest in a TMZ interview and on her personal social media accounts.

"As a survivor of gun violence, it was really hard to watch," she told the outlet. "For someone like me, who actually saw these images, who actually lived these images, to see them again dramatized for views (and) dramatized for YouTube, I feel like it was really insensitive.

Carter called on Madonna to apologize to any other survivors of gun violence who may have been triggered by the video.

1. the biggest problem with the gun debate is that the media sanitizes everything

Madonna is trying to bring it home so people understand what actually happens in a situation like this. Good for her.

2. Just my opinion, of course, but Madonna seems pretty desperate to return to relevancy

and desperate to recapture her past, both physically and in her career.

I liked some of her music but find her to be far too jarring a personality. Now it appears that she's fallen into that over the top cosmetic surgery life style (again, just my opinion) and is beginning to look more like a cartoon character. I found the last photos I saw of her to be startling, and not in a good way.

But, let me add, if she sees what she wants and is happy, that's all that really matters. Watching and listening to her is not a requirement.

5. I dunno. She's trying to bring gun violence to light when others tiptoe around it

I appreciate her efforts. And, I'm not a huge fan of her music in general.

6. Possibly. But it appears to have been a less than effective end result

She's always struck me as being far more in to stunts for self=promotion and shock value, than anything else. She may have scored on that 2nd one, with this video.
