while children are being criminally abused at this very moment, by THIS country? It just feels wrong that anything be carried on as usual.
I fantasize about all the candidates issuing a group statement.

(40,367 posts)I think all of the candidates uniting together in stating they will postpone business as usual until every camp and facility is inspected and every childs welfare is guaranteed.

(58,676 posts)but I think we have a lot of work to do, in addition to trying to help the kids in the short term. We have to help them in the long term and shutting down the whole democratic process helps nobody except the Repubs. Better to continue the election process and bring up this matter as often as possible in a venue that people might actually watch.

if we abdicate our responsibility as a democracy to the orange loudmouth asshole in the room, then there will only be one voice and it will be his. and nothing at all will change.
we have the debates to bring attention to this very real horrific issue to a national stage, which takes away the orange assholes ability to control the narrative.
the more people watch, the more people will realize what hell is going on down there and we have a better change to help the people there.
it should be on the news 24/7 but it's not, so a platform at the debates is our best chance to have something done.
we have to use all means to bring attention to this issue and one of those means is via the debates.
