.
Does anyone know how to convert Amazon return labes into something printable in Windows & Mac OS X?
We've tried doing screen prints, copying to a PDF, saving screen prints as GIF, BMP, JPEG, etc.
Online support from HP, Microsoft, and Amazon do nothing to help. The WIN10 system is latest patches, on new machine.
Every time it balks when printing, by trying to save the file off in Windows 10, or not opening or formatting 1/2 in Mac.
Amazon ships a broken bottle of nutrients, and we've spent almost 2 hours trying to print the label.

UPDATE: We're taking screen shots of my monitor, sending them to my other daughter's phone that is et up to remote print.
Gee, it's almost like Amazon doesn't want you to return things!

(10,749 posts)The guy st my local shipping company said hes had tons of customers complaining about this. He recommended processing returns that result in s return Kane you can print, and avoid the process that gives you a qr code.
I think these can be printed at ups stores, ups centers, and some authorized ups service providers.

(28,205 posts)Why do these people increasingly assume everybody gets cell signal in their houses?!?!?!
I had a problem with my cell service nonprovider when they insisted they HAD to message me a code and couldnt get it through their heads that I dont get their damn service in my house. They wouldn't e-mail the damn thing.

(4,448 posts)Nonetheless, I've found myself in no coverage zones twice in the last year.
I don't think those figures take into account deadzones within buildings though. That seems be more common and is super frustrating for those security codes which are becoming more and more common.

(102,283 posts)because it was really cold that day and their cellular signal was poor so it went dead trying to bring up the email with the scannable bar code. I asked to use their computer briefly to log into my Amazon account so they could scan it there. They wanted $6 to do so. By now, I'm showing signs that they were not going to get rid of me, so they offer me a power cord for my iphone but I had to go to the most distant part of the front counter to do so and there was ZERO cell signal there. So, I'd charge for 5-6 minutes, run to the front of the store and try to catch the cell signal to bring up the email.
Finally, after about 45 minutes of this, they relented and let me log into my Amazon account.
All because I couldn't print out the damned return label.

(12,412 posts)on the return label email do you check which printer is selected?

The 7720 is the default.

(4,288 posts)When I print labels I click on the print button and it opens another browser window with the label only. I just print that Window to my default printer.
I took my last return to the UPS store and let them scan the QR code on the email and pack and ship my item. What I did not like is that no tracking information showed up at all on Amazon or UPS for over a week. Finally, it just showed return completed one day. I asked the UPS store about this and they said they collect items to return and bulk ship them to Amazon periodically. I am not sure I like that.
If I pack my item myself and print my own label my credit shows up as soon as I drop off my package at the other mailbox store. All in all I have had no trouble with any Amazon return. They even took back an iPad digitizer screen that cracked when I tried to install it. The instructions were crappy and hard to follow.

(1,810 posts)I was told to uninstall the driver and re-install the driver directly from the manufacturer. Sure enough, it worked. I ended up doing that will all of my printer drivers. Ends up Microsoft doesn't always initially direct you to the exact driver if you don't use the disc that came with it or originally download it from the recommended place by the company making the printer. It has actually made a difference on a number of my devices when printing.

nearby Amazon store. And voila, money refunded.

(2,068 posts)Venting your frustrations over a printer error here seems a bit much. There is zero wrong with Amazon return labels. You may also get better responses if you don't write like a manic teenager.

No other application has ever done this for me. And when my two kids Windows and Mac machines can't do it, it's frustrating that four hours of time was wasted between all of us to print a stupid mailing label. I was reaching out to DU for support. Thanks for the support.
Take than manic and shove it.

(38,316 posts)I use linux and ChromeOs daily, but my Windows machines also handle .prn without complaint.
A quick internet search suggests renaming .prn files to .xps
Another bit of advice I saw was:
To print such files in Windows, the user shall right-click the file and selecting "Microsoft Office Document Imaging".
.prn is simply a generic format that many printer drivers understand.

Some how, even copy/pasting it in Paint, when I saved the file in various graphical formats, when it tried to print the new saved format, which Windows recognized as a GIF, JPG, BMP, it still thought it was a .prn file when sent to print..

(486 posts)download a program called cutepdf. http://www.cutepdf.com/ it should allow you to "print" anything to a PDF file, which you can then open with acrobat or whatever pdf program of your choice, and print it out from there...
I am also pretty sure that windows 10 comes with the functionality built in though.
who the hell still uses prn files, arent they from Lotus software?

(10,885 posts)after never having had issues before. Frustrating!
My solution was to simply print out a copy of the label's barcode which I then brought to UPS to scan. Success! Wish I had thought of this sooner, and saved about an hour's time.

Its worth a try.

Each file format still tried to force a .PNG format and it wanted an application.
Even when saving it as a PDF, when I tried to print it from Acrobat, it reset it back to a .PNG

(4,448 posts)Then print your picture.
Not sure why the normal procedure doesn't work for you, but that's a good workaround.
Honestly Amazon is probably the easiest of any online service to make a return.
I just did it today and got my money back 5 minutes after I left the UPS store. I literally just clicked "print" and it worked from my mac.

(10,903 posts)Install a PDF printer driver like Cute PDF. Apple and Microsoft also have drivers.
Print to that printer, which creates a PDF you can save.
Print the saved PDF to whatever you want.
