(32,017 posts)It is a shame and a tragedy that We, the People of the United States, were denied the opportunity to have her serve us as President.

(6,831 posts)Who just could not tolerate the notion of a woman as president. During the campaign, I heard comments from some of the most neanderthal (sorry) men with whom I've ever had the displeasure to converse: references to menstrual cycles, cramps, PMS and mood swings, just the most reprehensible gutter garbage you can imagine.
Think of all the other nations who have had women as presidents, PMs, chancellors, and their societies did not fall into anarchy --
Canada, India, Germany, Israel, Pakistan, the UK, Norway, Ireland, Philippines, Brazil, Liberia, South Korea, Argentina, Taiwan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Croatia, Bangladesh, Turkey and New Zealand.
(If I have left anyone off, I apologize, and please feel free to enlighten me.)

1. Gore had won the presidency instead of idiot Bush, and evil Chaney
2. Hillary Clinton had won (I believe she did and the repubs cheated, but you can only blame the Democrats for not being prepared) instead of the buffoon.
What a bad turn the USA and the World have made by having these idiots republicans in power.

(56,828 posts)what if the rescue of the Iran hostages was a success and that Carter's debate notes were not stolen? Would Carter have been able to beat Reagan? If so, it means that Republicans likely move to a more moderate candidate in 1984 (George HW Bush?) instead of 4 more years of the radical right-winger Reagan... no revocation of the Fairness Doctrine, no Iran-Contra scandal, US likely making a push towards renewable energy and energy independence.

(4,341 posts)would have happened anyway, they don't seem to be able to stay honest, they seem to be naturally corrupt.
But yes, who knows if all you pointed out had changed the World for better. Lets hope people learn from this experience and the GOP becomes a bad memory.

(51,284 posts)There had been a rule that former CIA could not run for elected office ...
They got around that by saying that people voted for the president, not VP ... and then, once he had held office, they said see? It doesnt matter. Hes already held an elected position.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

(81,443 posts)A rising tide raises all boats. That was his go-to slogan.
And it sounds good, doesnt it? Great metaphor for the pea-brained! Its a terrific one-size-fits-all cure-all thats simplistic as all-get-out.
Unless of course your boat is anchored to the bottom...

(8,844 posts)Stand back and look at the big picture.
Reagan was already mentally out to lunch when elected. LOOK AT THE COMMON THREAD, starting with Reagan's first win.
H.W. Bush ran the CIA. He was Reagan's VP, along with Cheney/Rumsfeld/etc etc.
After 8 years of them actually running things, HW got elected and was joined with the same minions, Cheney/Rumsfeld/etc etc.
Some how they blew it to clinton.
Then they literally commandeered the next election, did a corrupt end run with an illegal move by the Supreme Court and got the infamous "W" elected. Mr Word Salad burnt out on alcohol and cocaine who couldn't form a complete thought. Cheney got himself "elected" as V.P. The same crowd joined with him....Cheney/Rumsfeld/Wolfowitz/etc etc to run things for eight years.
The Repubs got clobbered by Obama, so the Republican congress stymied every thing he and the dems tried to accomplish.
Illegally, by the way, but they were on a roll.
They rigged the election, elected an absolute corrupt and idiot as president.
Has anyone heard a word out of Cheney/Rumsfeld/etc etc?????????????? Who do you suppose is in the background running this whole thing??????
Any guesses???????????
