White House says Kellyanne Conway won't show up to Hatch Act hearing

(CNN)White House lawyers told the House Oversight Committee on Monday that senior counselor Kellyanne Conway will not appear at a hearing on Wednesday after a federal agency said earlier this month that she was a repeat offender of the Hatch Act and she should be fired.

Chairman Elijah Cummings, Democrat of Maryland, told CNN that he planned to subpoena Conway on Wednesday. Cummings warned that his panel would vote to hold Conway in contempt if she ignores the subpoena.

White House counsel Pat Cipollone wrote in a letter to Cummings that he was citing longstanding precedent that allows members of the White House to decline invitations to testify before Congress.

"As you know, the precedent for members of the White House staff to decline invitations to testify before congressional committees has been consistently adhered to by administrations of both political parties, and is based on clearly established constitutional doctrines," Cipollone wrote.

to be addressed, but there are a couple of things that are more pressing in our country right now.

How about a hearing about concentration camps filled with migrant children and babies?

And testimony from people who have managed to make it behind the curtain. Read first-hand accounts into the record.

He may not be too happy for his wife to ignore a subpoena. Apparently, he needs to have a little talk with Kellyanne and
show her the error of her ways. Just sayin'.

As a conservative woman of faith, she should really be willing to submit to her husband in such things.

merchandise is clearly covered by those "established constitutional doctrines". All she needed was to wave around one of those big arrow signs and to point to the WH.

It's also precedent for Congress to issue a subpoena and then arrest her and drag her worthless ass into the chamber to testify if she refuses.

I'm serious, if this House forgets that it's a co-equal branch , were fucked and the Unitary Executive EXISTS BY DEFAULT

NOT COOL.

Nancy, I trust you, but fuck you ITS TIME. ITMF.
