The Democratic presidential primary field has no shortage of candidates who have come out in favor of a $15 minimum wage. But their potential foe in the general election, perhaps surprisingly, thinks a $15 minimum might not go far enough.
Appearing on Telemundo, President Donald Trump suggested he might be in favor of a federal minimum wage which is even higher than the $15 amount proposed by many progressives.
Thats a very low number, the $15, Trump said. And I am actually looking at that I am looking at that.
The $15 proposed minimum wage is a number conjured up out of thin air, as far as Trump is concerned. And the president went on to say hes looking at raising the figure north of that.

(16,786 posts)Minimum Wage of $15 an hour. Congressional Republicans are doing what they can to not raise the Federal Minimum Wage. They will fight Trump on this.

(11,686 posts)They still have not figured out that he lied about the tax returns THEY would get. He will lie about this also and if he gets in again he will do something to either bring minimum wage down or remain forever stagnant. He will also tell his ignorant base that the Democrats did something to cause it.

I doubt Trump has given any thought whatsoever to raising the minimum wage.
Unsurprisingly, the rest of the interview was a blizzard of lies, although the interviewer tried to call him on them several times. And he spent about half the interview talking about his poll numbers.

(11,495 posts)I am sure that he will do it only "after" the elections next year, but hey if his base is really dumb enough to believe him...!
The man lies constantly, and like you said he will say or do anything to win, but he will "never" actually do what he says, unless of course it't more money for the rich and corporations!

(62,423 posts)infrastructure etc., etc. Of course it's all lies. When he keeps repeating his big lies and the media dare not question him people get fooled. There is never any real proposals, just some vague promises that some people eat up.

(11,738 posts)He has no intention of doing anything about the minimum wage. Did the interviewer press him on "how are you going to get that done"? That is his pat lying answer "I'm looking into that". The only thing he looks into are buckets of KFC to see if they are empty so he can order more.
