Support for Trump Plunges In Louisiana

June 21, 2019 at 7:50 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

“A clear majority of Louisiana voters don’t want Donald Trump to win a second term as president, an independent poll shows,” the Baton Rouge Advocate reports.

“The poll shows that those surveyed by a 54-37% margin favor electing someone other than Trump as president… Only 47% of voters polled approved of Trump’s performance while 46% disapproved.”

“Trump’s weaker-than-expected poll results will likely have consequences for this year’s governor’s race because many Republicans have been saying a late-in-the-campaign endorsement from the president could deliver the decisive blow for a conservative Republican to knock off Gov. John Bel Edwards, a Democrat.”

Sure they're stupid but not stupid enough to ignore the data. Sooner or later self-preservation instincts will kick in and it will be every puke for themselves.

then we will start seeing more than Justin Amash opposing Trump.

And, yes, I know people are hurting everywhere, but the media is only reporting the high level news - low unemployment, and Trump is telling people that his mediocre job creation numbers are great and people are believing him and the media is selling it.

They are the ones supplying the money and stealing the votes and suppressing the votes to keep the Repugs in power and they want that more than they care about the country or its' laws.

They think they have the race stolen and in the bag so don't care at all about whether we hate them or not - they will have the votes and the power if we can't destroy drumpf so badly the hacking and stealing can't keep up with the wave of disapproval.

The extent of Republican cheating is well known already. In swing states, if the polls are within the margin of error we can expect thousands of Democrats to become unregistered because f minor mistakes or they haven’t voted in four years or they have the same name as someone living in another state—any excuse to get them off the rolls. In Republican-controlled districts, we can expect voting machines that don’t work so long lines will prevent people who have to get to work from voting or changes to voting locations at the last minute and nowhere near public transportation. Nursing home and retirement home managers need to be prevented from allowing anyone to pick up ballots to be mailed.

Some PAC that favors fair elections needs to create television commercials outlining how Republicans have used these practices to suppress the vote and run those ads continuously the month before the election. It should also remind voters to check their registration before the election.

than they are "mercenary."

Despite their childish fitful outbursts early on, they rolled over to him in a heartbeat, and have EAGERLY followed him down 99% of the rat holes he dives into - hell, the REPUBLICAN PARTY is backing tariff wars.

They fear their base more than anything, and whatever the "polls say" generally, their "base" still supports this scumbag at record levels, and anyone who dares to break ranks on him will suffer the same negative backlash as others like Amash have.

based on piss-poor polling results, how likely is it that he will come up with some excuse to resign, rather than face losing the election? And if he does resign, would someone else (Kasich, Weld, Romney or any of the other possibles) have a better chance at beating the Democrat nominee?

I fully expect Trump to be nominated for a second term.

But he still supports President Donald Trump, for whom he and 65 percent of his neighbors voted.

And he hasn’t given up hope.

“I’m an optimist, I know it’s gonna get settled. It’s can we weather the storm? I hope he wins, because if he doesn’t win we don’t win. If he fails, we fail.”

Cause and effect is clearly demonstrated, with collateral damage aplenty in its wake. His actions have caused them to fail as well. Those poll numbers suggest that this may be starting to sink in.

supporters ... after all, one can only take so much idiocy and crap...rump has reached this level a long time ago.

I especially like preaching the 2017 tax cut and jobs bill. Passed solely to aid the top 5% of earners / wealth holders in this country and no one else. This goes a long way in showing just exactly who the republicans stand for. It certainly isn't us...

diverting those funds to the utmost wealthy in this country, who need it the least. Go figure. I can't other than we have a**holes in Congress (not the democratic senators) who did this. Thank goodness we have control of the House now, so crap like these cuts won't happen again.

Not far from Louisiana and people there were talking how they were fed up with trump, all the lying, and corruption, and it's in a very republican area,or was. Several were done with him and the GOP , and one claimed he had never voted for a Democrat, but said he was sick at what trump and the GOP are doing. I said nothing but was gladly listening to them complain. People are running from trump and the GOP, and threats of war and the possible skyrocketing cost of gasoline, and higher costs because of tariffs will make many, many more run from them next election.
