News Anchor Leaving Sinclair Affiliate, 'I don't fit well with Sincair News Model'

News anchor Rob Braun says it was "time to move on" after 35 years at WKRC-TV because "I don't fit well with the Sinclair News model."

Cincinnati's longest-tenured main anchor, in his first public comment about his departure, says he wasn't fired and he's not retiring.

Channel 12 "is NOT forcing me out," Braun wrote on his Facebook page late Wednesday. "In fact they offered me a generous contract. I am choosing to leave. There is no 'real story.'

"Sometimes in life, you just know, it's time to move on. I don't feel I fit well with the Sinclair News model."

...

Braun clashed with his bosses last year when Sinclair ordered news anchors to read a commentary complaining about media companies pushing "their own personal bias and agenda to control exactly what people think." Two Channel 12 staffers said Braun tried to rewrite Sinclair's script in his own words, but it was rejected.

He did read the Sinclair script last year but I'll give him credit for trying, and choosing to leave this situation rather than be a company yes man.

Is the Son of Bob Braun, one of the most well known Broadcasters in the Cincinnati area.

As well respected as the Nick Clooney family. I can not remember a time when those 2 families were not on radio or TV.

And we all know what George and Nick are! They came from the Paul Dixon era. Bonnie Lou!

And to a lesser extent Paul Dixon (he passed away suddenly when I was 4 or 5). But my mother enjoyed watching them both. Bob Braun had all the Reds players on all the time, so that was fun.

of his only Son. He finally came back to the show but died within a year.

My neighbors Son was his room mate in College. He died in an auto accident.

He will eventually catch on with one of the other news stations in Cincinnati. He’s a pro and very well liked and trusted by the area folks

.... this "propaganda" monopoly by breaking it up and restoring the Fairness Doctrine.

The fairness doctrine of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced in 1949, was a policy that required the holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was—in the FCC's view—honest, equitable, and balanced.
