Oregon Gov. Kate Brown Dispatches State Troopers to Find Senate Republicans Who Skipped Out on Climate Vote

Oregon Gov. Kate Brown has sent state troopers to find nearly a dozen Republican state senators who reportedly fled to prevent a climate bill from being able to move forward, The Oregonian reports. Eleven GOP senators are reportedly hiding in order to keep the Senate from having enough people present to vote on the bill, with some out of the state. Senate President Peter Courtney asked the sergeant at arms to search the capitol for the missing members upon realizing they were missing, then requested Brown dispatch troopers to find the senators. “It is absolutely unacceptable that the Senate Republicans would turn their back on their constituents who they are honor-bound to represent here in this building,” Brown said in a statement. “They need to return and do the jobs they were elected to do.” The Senate Democrats announced that the lawmakers would be fined $500 per day, but an online fundraiser gathered over $3,000 in support of the Republicans.

Texas (2009), Wisconsin (2011), Indiana (2012).

In Texas, Republicans threatened to call in the Rangers to haul them back.

I voted for Reagan! I voted for Bush 1. I was uniformed and followed my parents lead then. Since I got up to speed it is pretty apparent Repubs/Cons are brain-dead, bought, cultist freaks. Living in Wisconsin I remember well our state legislators fleeing to Illinois after the Koch-fueled R's destruction of unions, education and environmental laws. That occurred under Scott Walker and this Gerrymandered nightmare is still choking us today.

The Republicans were, as you say, tearing down everything we believe in, and the Dems wanted no part of it.

I was just pointing out that a tactic is a tactic.

BTW, I also voted for Reagan and Bush. After Papa, I repudiated the GOP for good.

Just saying. If I were hired to do a job and then played hooky, I would probably lose said job. I can't think of any other position where you are allowed to hide from your job and still keep it.

Fine their asses, and take the money from the on-line traitors who back these cowards.
They could show some spine and show up and cast their vote in opposition..but no, they are cowards through and through. Such pathetic Oregonians. I sure hope the voters are watching these assholes. 2020

Anywhoooo, hello from Oregon, where it appears Republican state senators have fled the capitol and are teaming up with local paramilitary groups for a potential armed standoff with state police.

The Republicans will have skipped over the State line, where Oregon Troopers can't pick them up.
