(10,252 posts)He wants to be hawkish and at the same time reasonable and not-so-hawkish. He equivocates on issues and policies all the time. He leaves himself a deniability out in case things don't work out to his advantage. There's always an out to say, when questioned, that he said A, or he said not-A.
