Seth Abramson to Democrats: Can we focus?

Tweeted late last night:

It's amazing how easy it is to sidetrack Democrats (including me). We have a president who's *dismantling and terrorizing the nation* and we're talking about an imaginary Biden-Booker feud and howling over calls for AOC to apologize for saying a clearly right thing. Can we focus?

It's a primary. THIS is when you air out your differences and pick a nominee.
It's politics, not a Sunday brunch.
There will be tons of time to focus on Trump once we pick our nominee.
But a bunch of candidates all agreeing on the myriad ways Trump is horrible doesn't help us pick one of them.
The next time a primary doesn't have a hard fight will be the first time.

Folks need to toughen up.
And by folks, I mean Biden supporters.
If your guy can't take this tiny amount of heat, then he's not going to win in 2020.

no it wouldn't.

We are picking a nominee. They need to distinguish amongst EACH OTHER.

This isn't new, and this isn't rocket science.

Hillary went through ten times as worse than Biden is now.

Trump had to weather it during his nomination.

It happens every single time in every single contested primary.

But somehow, this time, it's different. And it seems to be one candidate's supporters who by far do the most whining.

I suspect because they aren't confident in their candidate winning the primary, and they fear their candidate is the only one that can beat Trump, so they are panicking and overreacting to every attack.

And you're wrong in suggesting that we can wait to focus on Trump until after we pick our nominee.

Though Trump and the GOP wold LOVE for us to do that.

but yeah he was talking about the primary, and no I'm not wrong.

Trump sucks moves no balls. It persuades no primary voters.

Now, there certainly needs to be some here's what I would do different if elected, to give curious voters information and persuasion, but there also needs to be, here's why I am the right candidate and why someone else isn't. Happens every time, and folks act like this is the first time ever.

We have to not just "beat Trump" but what comes AFTER we beat Trump.

so no, these disputes are not "trivial"

They are only "trivial" to you because you want Biden to win, and he's ahead right now, so OF COURSE you want nothing but happy talk because you hope that doesn't change anything.

If Biden were in third or fourth, you'd be quite happy when he inevitably attacked the front runner to try to make a move up.

compared to the absolute threat of Trump. One reason we have Trump today is because in 2016 Sanders‘ supporters savaged Clinton so badly that she was damaged greatly by the time Bernie finally conceded.

We don’t need a repeat of that.

Seth Abramson has deep knowledge of the perfidy/criminality and ambitions of the Trump clan Maybe more than anyone else outside the intel community. Those ambitions are greater than the White House, even. Greater than ruling by fiat.

Dems tearing each other down in the public arena is not useful.
