Edwin Edwards
....

First political comeback: Edwards vs. Treen, 1983
....

Before election day, Edwards joked with reporters: "The only way I can lose this election is if I'm caught in bed with either a dead girl or a live boy". Edwards zinged Treen many times, once describing Treen as "so slow it takes him an hour and a half to watch 60 Minutes." During a gubernatorial debate in 1983, Treen asked Edwards, "How come you talk out of both sides of your mouth?" Edwards instantly responded, "So people like you with only half a brain can understand me."

These domestic violence stories would have turned into another media frenzy during the confirmation process, much like Rob Porter's wife-beating WH fiasco last year.

Shanahan was at Boeing for 30 years before becoming Acting SecDef, he probably planned to profit from steering military contracts to his old company. Now, those hopes have been dashed.

Once again, someone enters into Trump's orbit and is forced to flee with his/her reputation in tatters. I wonder if there's anyone left in DC willing to go down with this sinking ship?

The article said it was unclear who was the aggressor.
I see that they are now divorced.

The phrase is so hackneyed.

Who beat his mother with a baseball bat. And shanahan worked to defend his son for the assault which left the woman with internal injuries requiring surgery. And a fractured skull.

Read an article about 10 days ago saying the Trumpster was asking friends and advisors what they thought of Shanahan--capability, loyalty. Shanahan made a less than supportive comment about one of Trump's utterances. That seems to be all it takes, a whisper of disapproval. Think it might have been over the USS McCain controversy. Or maybe something behind the scenes.

Ugh! Who in their right mind would work for this maniac.

NEW: There’s MUCH more to the Shanahan backstory. His son also assaulted his ex-wife with a baseball bat. As Shanahan wrestled with whether to pull his nomination, he told all in lengthy interviews Monday and Tuesday with The Washington Post.

a real eye opener. Whos is making these nominations? Cause it isn't Dump. The kind of ugly stuff pouring out about this guy and his family is probably just what they have on nearly all of these rethugs. So again, who's making the decisions?

So the guy running our defense department for the last several months shouldn’t have been given access to anything secret because he can’t pass a background check.

Guy is untrustworthy and had access to everything a foreign power could want. If you can see how this is 500 times worse than “her emails” I don’t know what planet you’re from.
