Republican Mobile County Treasurer Phil Benson defiantly told a reporter from a local news station to read the biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah when she came to ask him about his recent anti-LGBT rant that he posted on Facebook.
The controversy surrounding Benson started when he reacted angrily to a story about a bakery getting sued for refusing to serve an LGBT wedding.
Freaking queers have gotten too much sympathy, Benson wrote on Facebook in response to the story.
Local news station NBC 15 sent out reporter Andrea Ramey to question him about his remarks, and he tried to insist that she read Chapter 19 of Genesis, which details the destruction of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah over their tolerance of homosexuality.

(82,849 posts)Perhaps in your pre-occupation with Genesis 19, you missed Ezekiel 16:49, where he says, the sin of Sodom was that they were "arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy."
Now, of the two major political parties in this country, which one better fits that description?

(13,424 posts)Yes, we need to start mocking people for their batshit crazy religious beliefs. So much stuff in the Bible never happened, let alone the supernatural events which are pure horseshit. These people need to be laughed at and ridiculed for nonsensical beliefs that would otherwise land them in an asylum somewhere.
so well said!

i love it when you challenge them on the bible , then they hide behind the constitution, then either they go sputter sputt sput like this gentleman did or they come out swinging.

(5,995 posts)A Xtian spouting the OT is roughly the same as a "Real American" citing Henry VIII's views on marriage/divorce.
BTW: Not intended as anti-Semitic in any way, just maddening how many "followers" of JC seem to think he preached the OT. He was crucified for threatening the doctrines of the old guard.
