The economy is not as great as some might think...

...and all the "great" things that Donald Trump brags about were "great" for very few. In the big picture, he and his supporters have done great harm to our country.

For example, cutting regulations that protected our air, land, and water, did not help the common person. It helped those who wanted to drill or exploit the land for its natural resources.

For example, by hugely cutting taxes, mostly for the wealthiest, helped to transfer more wealth to the very top and created huge debt and deficits for everyone else.

Also, all the praise for the economy and the low jobless rates do not take into account all the "Baby Boomers" that have retired and the states that have increased their minimum wage by law. The latter have occurred mostly from Democratic Party efforts.

Things are not always as they seem.

2. I think this is a trend that has been going on for decades,

mostly under the radar, but more obvious and accelerated now. People got their jobs back, but the jobs are not as good as before, so wages are have not kept up with GDP increases. Or they were forced to retire early. Most of the GDP increase has gone to the wealthy through increases in investment values, exacerbated by the tax cuts.

3. It is not - and I hope the media really focuses on the real economy. Not the stock market

Sure there are more jobs - But not jobs that sustain families. Jobs that pay $10 per hour cannot sustain families. People are working 2 and 3 jobs to be able to survive. So sure it looks like there are more jobs and more people are employed but if 1 person has 2 or 3 jobs, driving uber - that does not indicate a great economy. People are struggling and barely holding on. I want the media to focus on those things. Lets take a microscope to this great economy!

I work in healthcare - Even with so called good jobs - We have people working with masters degree by day, and wait tables by night at Waffle House to survive.

Just saw on MSNBC one woman with a business talking about paying her employees and not taking a salary herself. The media needs to do a better job of really showing the truth of this " Good economy and this great job market"

Sure some of us are doing better in some parts of the country. But in some places others are not. Many are still struggling. That story needs to be told.

4. The corporate media's reporting on the economy is based on how well the 1% are doing

Their ever-increasing wealth is supposed to trickle down to the rest of us. It's like putting Jeff Bezos in a room with 99 homeless people, then reporting the average wealth of everyone in that room is over a billion dollars.

show up for people - those issues have long-term side effects of more disease, more sickness, a deteriorating environment, etc.

Until it affects people personally in their own pocketbooks, they won't notice the long term disaster of more air pollution or poisoned waters.

cycle (up for 10+ years) comes back down to earth. Pricing is getting ridiculous. I was talking recently to a friend of mine about real estate prices, and they are ridiculously high and don't even know how a young couple starting out could even begin to afford such pricing. It's a matter of time...incomes haven't kept up w/ pricing so it's a matter of time (but the pricing of debt still continues at its high rate...why can't debt be priced at current levels too?)...

that they're using to buy back stock, the yield curve is flat, inflation is supposed to be stable, but rent, gas, and food are increasing while ignored by the inflation index.

I don't think the situation is by any means stable, and neither does anyone that buys US debt.

His MAGAT crowd celebrates that because "free dumb", and has no idea that the regulations eliminated all benefit the biggest polluters at their and their children's expense. So they cheer the "roaring economy", which doesn't benefit them either. Talk about a con.

as a self-employed drywall and painting contractor, I have plenty of work, but this is the worst when it comes to account receivables. Many are just not paying or it takes them months to pay.
