United Flight Blows Tires Upon Landing in Newark, Skids off Runway...(no one hurt)

CNN) — A United Airlines flight blew out some its tires and skidded on a runway Saturday at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, leading to delays while the plane was towed away, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

No injuries were reported when United Flight 627 -- which originated in Denver -- landed at 1 p.m. on Runway 22 Left, according to the FAA.

None of the 166 passengers on board were taken to hospitals and those with minor injuries refused medical attention, United Airlines said. Damage to the aircraft was being assessed, and the FAA is investigating the incident.

Of McLaren and the 737 blew a tire right as we were starting the take off roll. Luckily the pilot was able to hit the brakes and come to a stop before the end of the runway.
We were in the plane for about 2 hours while they towed us back to the gate and let us get off.
The pilot got on the intercom and told us how lucky we were that it blew out when it did, as we avoided the situation in the post.
Sat the next flight out in the bar playing the slots and drinking some afternoon bourbon that day.
