Every oil producing nation besides Iran will double production to cash in on the wartime demand for more oil, taking in BILLIONS from every country that depends on a steady supply of fossil fuels. Nations that own their oil extraction and production biz, like Venezuela can make enormous revenues in supplying oil that is not at risk from another US constructed ME war.

A Trump concocted war with Iran will have two goals, money taking and political upmanship.

I don't believe that Trump wants a war with Iran. Yes, he wants to use them as a foil, and he doesn't mind pissing them off, but I don't think he wants to be in a position to put our armed forces into direct conflict with them.

Otherwise, he would have ordered the US Navy to take out Iran's navy, or would have at least offered Navy escorts for Gulf of Oman shippers. This is primarily a problem for the rest of the world, the US has all the oil it needs. Let the price crank back up to $200 a barrel, and there are a lot of recently mothballed projects in North Dakota that would be ready to gear back up to supply the demand.
