Missouri Restaurant Cancels Wedding Dinner After Learning It Was For 2 Brides

A cafe in O’Fallon refused to host Kendall Brown and Mindy Rackley’s rehearsal dinner because the owners disapprove of their relationship, the couple said.

Kendall Brown and Mindy Rackley, a couple from the St. Louis area, hoped to have their wedding rehearsal dinner at Madison’s Cafe in O’Fallon. But those plans were derailed when the owner found out the dinner was for a same-sex wedding, Rackley wrote in a June 4 Facebook post.

“We have never been treated this way and have never been declined a service because [of] who we are,” Rackley wrote. “Our hearts hurt.”

Rackley said that her future mother-in-law called Madison’s Cafe on June 3 to make a reservation for a rehearsal dinner on June 13. The owner reportedly called Brown the next day with questions about the event, including the groom’s name.

“She said, ‘Your spouse is another woman?’ and I said, ‘Yes,’” Brown told NBC affiliate KSDK-TV in St. Louis. “And she said, ’I’m sorry, we’re going to have to refer you to someone else because we don’t condone that kind of relationship.”

There has never been any rights affirmed to gays that have infringed on any single of my rights. I have no reason to be against gays having the opportunities that I do. This stuff is not religious freedom, its looking for permission to discriminate.

These evangelicals are completely obnoxious, and they use their phony religion as a weapon against those whom they deem “unclean.”

To all of this American Taliban, and especially to the ownership of Madison’s Cafe— an early “HAPPY HOLIDAYS,” assholes.

The hypocrisy of these people like these is just staggering. I bet they've never cancelled a dinner for divorced people, who are getting married for a second or third time. Jesus plainly said that most divorced people who remarry are adulterers, and adultery is specifically prohibited in the Ten Commandments, but I bet they've somehow found a way to reconcile that with their Christianity. However, these two women getting married, their Christianity won't let them take have anything to do with it.

How excited the restaurant owner would be if Mr. Grab'em by the Pussy visited Missouri and arranged to eat there?

I think that the main purpose of RW Christianity control and waging "holy war" on the rest of us. They regularly morph their "values" into whatever they see as helping them to these ends.

Sure, there may be some blue pockets around Kansas City and St. Louis but the rest of the state is as red as possible. Between the recent abortion ban, their nutjob Senator Hawley and now this, the state is doing everything it can to stampede back to middle ages as many parts of the rest of the country push forward into the 21st century.

The day after the the Fire Insurance lapsed because the owners forgot to send in the check cause they were too busy updating their Facebook with bigoted and hateful messages.

Assholes.

As for the couple ... I'm sorry this happened... but on the bright side, there's 1000's of businesses in the State that will HAPPY to support you, and your Union ... even though it IS Missouri ... I'm sure they're there.

F*** these assholes, don't let 'em ruin your special day. If you let them ... THEY WIN.

their own fucking business. Who other people marry will not affect them in any way whatsoever. There is no law requiring you marry someone of the same gender, so they're "safe." You'd think a restaurant would be grateful for any business. The chicken breast won't care if the couple eating it is gay or straight. I really don't get it.

Which is why I refuse to identify with any organized religious group.

I know there are god ones out there who are inclusive. But this using religion as a means to discriminate is NOT what Christ preached about. People who do that are NOT followers of Christ because they omit Matthew 25 from their belief system.

As stewards and caretakers of Madison's Cafe,

we strive to honor God in all we do as we pursue excellence in the services we provide.

Our Core Values

Honoring God:

We believe that everything we have is a gift from God that we are to use to honor Him through our activities, events, and endeavors. In order to honor God, we will not host or facilitate any event that we believe directly contradicts our Christian principles.

Honoring Family:

We value the individuals, families, staff, and guests of Madison's Cafe, recognizing them as the building blocks of success for our business, the community, and our world. We embrace God-honoring events that seek to build the family. We respect each individual as a member of our global community, as created in the image and likeness of God. We believe that the Bible teaches that the only true and appropriate marriage is the union of one man and one woman, as created, and that other types of marriage are immoral. We also believe that it is our religious duty not to aid or assist others to act immorally.

Discrimination based on sex. If anything from this can come from it, this be a perfect case to send up to highest court and get the answer. Frankly, I do not care, but others do. I see the law aspect of the case. The owner discriminated the woman biased on her sex. It is clear if she was a man, she would of had the dinner, but since she was a woman, the owner didn't want no part of it.

That would do away with this piecemeal coverage in some states due to statute, and others due to court precedent.

about sharia law. Every day, though, I become more worried about xtian Taliban law taking hold in this country. The founding fathers left open a pandora's box when they didn't restrict the hell out of religion. Religion needs to be kept private and only in your own home. No one should be allowed to own a business if they aren't willing to serve everyone. And, no, I don't believe people should have to serve racists, nazis, bigots, or other hate filled scum suckers. If you are a bigot, racist, or nazi, I consider you a non-human, and not worthy of the same rights as normal people.
