(10,137 posts)if a pharmacist can refuse to fill a prescription for birth control, or a baker refuse to sell a cake to a gay couple, because it would violate their "deeply held beliefs", then an actual good Christian* should be able to feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, and shelter the homeless because Jesus actually told his followers to do this.
*I don't know what if any this person's religious convictions are: I'm using it to refer to one who practices the corporal works of mercy as attributed to one Jesus of Nazareth.

(60,010 posts)Most of us grew up seeing "We have the right to refuse service to anyone" signs. People believe in them.
But Federal law supersedes state law. Equal Opportunity sez you can't refuse service to an entire class of people.
I'd tend to be a mite more sympathetic if it weren't for the fact these same "Christians" weren't also refusing to serve other groups, past or presently.
I don't support blatant hiding behind religion.
