BirthStrike: The people refusing to have kids, because of climate changeBy Stephanie Bailey, CNN
London (CNN)Climate change is rapidly changing the environment... But how far would you be willing to go to help save the planet? Would you skip school? Eat pig's feet? Deliberately get arrested? How about forgo having kids?
For 33-year-old British musician Blythe Pepino the latter is a reality. Her fears about climate change are so strong she has decided not to have biological children.
"I really want a kid," she told CNN. "I love my partner and I want a family with him but I don't feel like this is a time that you can do that."
Pepino believes that there will be an "ecological Armageddon" and founded BirthStrike at the end of 2018. BirthStrike is a group of people who are declaring their decision not to have kids because of climate change.

I am also concerned about species in Amazonia, which are becoming extinct before they can even be discovered or studied by scientists.

Photos: Climate-Change Protests Around the World
ALAN TAYLOR APR 25, 2019 25 PHOTOS IN FOCUS
Since the beginning of the year, large numbers of protests against government inaction on issues of climate change have been taking place in cities worldwide. Most of the movement has taken place in Europe, is largely student-led, and was inspired by the Swedish teen activist Greta Thunberg, who has been speaking out and demanding action from leaders since last year. On March 15, thousands of environmentally concerned students in 80 countries held a Fridays for Future strike, marching through the streets with signs. This past week, parts of London were brought to a standstill by protesters from Extinction Rebellion, who have called on the British government to negotiate with them and to prioritize environmental protection.

(1,660 posts)2. I've been on strike for 50 years.
I was born in 1950. By the time I was 18 I was pretty sure the world didn't need more than 3.5 billion little miracles.
Another 4 billion little miracles later, I'm even more convinced.
